Getting Ready to Go!

"Do not be anxious about anthing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6-7

So I have less than a month until I get on a plane destined for Granada, Spain. I never thought that this moment would come. I've always wanted to visit Spain-with its vivacious culture, colorful celebrations, awe-inspiring views, friendly people, and delicious food. And now it's crazy to think that I will be living there for five months! I am so excited to study at the Centro de Lenguas in downtown Granada, live with a host family and experience all that Granada has to offer. Although I am very very nervous as well. Will I be able to pick up the language? How will all my classes be? How is my host family going to be? Will I be able to fit in with the natives? How is church going to be over there? Hopefully it won't seem like forever, I'm going to miss my family, friends, boyfriend! etc. All these thoughts running through my head. But yet, in moments of anxiousness and nervousness I pause in stillness. And I remember the Phillippians verse above. Why am I worrying? This trip to Granada is going to be a once in a lifetime experience. And with God by my side, leading me, I dont need to be anxious and worried. Everything will turn out. God is in control. And while it may be a little intimidating and scary of the unknown, I know by leaning on God I will find peace in this new situation.
So, with many prayers and trusting in God, I am more than excited to start this new adventure. Granada Spain....here I come!

  2. Go, Lindsay! I'm so excited for you. Reading your posts remind me of when I went to Europe for 3 months at 22. I understand your anxiety mixed with excitement to the max. But you have something I didn't at the time: a deep faith in God's wonderful plans and protection. Praying that grace and favor precede and follow you in every situation. Oh, and, yes, beware of those Spanish men. :o)
